DESCRIPTION: APW - E. Howard & Co, Boston, Series II, 15J, N-S (just over 19S), massive 18K gold English-made HC bearing London hallmarks for 1858, incuse casemaker’s “A.W.F.T.” marking, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#2487. Gross weight of assembled watch 115.0 dwt (178.8 g). A scarce early movement, the total production of the Series II was approximately 1200 made with serial numbers ranging from approximately 1800 to 3000. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, small spot below s#, some darkening at edge of train bridge at “Slow” marking; dial with patched chipping to lower left rim of seconds-register, fractures to left side of seconds-register, hls near 5; near mint hour and seconds-hand, minute with some bends; case shows ample wear, front with some dings; bow pivots semi-freely, push is a brass replacement showing medium wear; glass crystal is small turning freely within bezel.
